There are community plugins: “Remember cursor position”, and “Navigate Cursor History”, and “Remember File State”, and “Cursor Position History”.
There might be similar ones, but I just searched community plugins for “remember”. I haven’t tested these all, but I have used “Remember cursor position”.
There is also this open feature request if you want to vote for it: Remember Restore last document position / scroll position / cursor position
