Support AVIF Image format

AVIF Image is not supported by Obsidian,
Please add support for it,
I checked that Obsidian can display both WEBP and AVIF image formats but doesn’t support it.

There are some big things Obsidian doesn’t has,
→ Inline Editing
img HTML5 Tag support for relative URLs
audio HTML5 Tag support
→ WEBP/AVIF Image formats Support
→ Ability to configure which folders to Ignore inside Vault

Thanks

I second this. Having avif support inside obsidian could be kinda useful

I support an acute shortage of each of these features (although webp is already supported, but not avif).

Bumping this because AVIF is very good.

indeed; seems better than .webp! Is WebP really better than JPEG? – siipo.la

I am waiting for a AVIF image support. The format is much better than web and takes less space which is cool for Sync.

bumping this! Also added resources to demonstrate how simple of an upgrade in support this should be. Essentially catching up with the Chromium upstream supported images types for embedding should be all there is afaik.

Supported image formats: .png, .avif, .webp, .gif, and .jpg/.jpeg.

I’m trying to edit a jekyll website using Obsidian. In there I was using .avif images replacing the old jpg and png images, so the website is more lightweight. And this is how it looks with obsidian:

It should be trivial to support .avif. Likely just add a string in a place there a “png” and “jpg” is. So please, could you add it?
