Automatically Open Index File When Clicking on Folder?

Installed Folder Note Core and created index files.

What I’m trying to do

I’d really love for an index file to open by default when I click on a folder. I could have sworn this functionality was achievable through the Folder Note Core plugin, but it doesn’t seem to work. Doesn;t anyone know how I can achieve this, through the folder note core plugin or otherwise?

Though I haven’t used it in a while, there’s a special click you need to do on the folder to get Folder Note’s index folder to open. It’s specified in the plugin’s settings:
