Hi,
Performance-wise, for newly added attachment, it’ll better to segmentize it into year > month structure.
Eg: Added attachment for today (2020-07-21) should be in the folder _attachments/2020/07 instead of _attachments.
Or any random hashed 2 (or 3) level of subfolder, up to your consideration.
