In the last 48 hours I’ve noticed a couple of instances where I write something in my daily note on one device, edit the note on a different device, and then go back to the original device and notice my original content is missing. I’m fortunately able to recover it via note history, but I’m worried I’ll not notice the missing content, and it’s also a pain to have to recover things.
Anyone else experiencing this lately? Is there a bug in sync?
Specs
I’m using Version 1.7.5 on my MacBook, iPad and iPhone.
I recently signed up for Obsidian sync. I have the same problem. I will edit a daily note on both my computer (Mac) and phone (iPhone). The changes made on phone don’t show up to Mac immediately, I think because I am using a different app (Widgets for Obsidian) to quickly add content so the Obsidian app doesn’t stay open for syncing to happen. That’s fine, but then when I manually open Obsidian on my phone and allow it to sync, the synced content replaces whatever I had on my Mac. When I look at the version history it shows the version from my Mac, and then it shows the (current) iPhone version, which has deleted all the Mac content. My notes on Mac are stored in the home folder so they are outside of iCloud (~/Obsidian).
Even though I can restore from the version history, as OP notes that’s not how sync should function, especially given that Obsidian Sync is priced at a premium over alternative sync services.
