Currently, Obsidian Publish requires the homepage to have a path like /home, /welcome, or /index, etc. which creates an unnecessary URL segment that doesn’t align with standard web conventions. For a website, the homepage should be accessible directly at the root domain (mysite..com/) rather than requiring an extra path segment.
This matters because root URLs rank better in search engines and are more memorable for users.
this works already
Oh, really? Sorry, but could you tell me how to do that? Just like with permalinks, by simply typing “/” ?
Yes, I understand that, but then the link automatically contains the name of the note, and I would like the main page of the site not to contain a subdomain.
subdomain? I am confused.
The root works. website.com/ works. There is no need for the user to input any extra path segment.
Yes, the root works for searching in the URL bar, but then it goes to the home page, where the name of the note is already displayed as website..com/home, for example. Is it possible to make it so that when you are on the home page, website..com/ is also displayed in the URL bar?
why is this a problem?
Is this just because you find it aesthetically unpleasing?
Because this is not a problem with web standards, conventions, or ranking with search engines.
