There are plugins that can back up vaults to GitHub, but you can’t add GitHub actions to the repositories as they need to go in a .github folder and files starting with ‘.’ aren’t allowed.
Allow such files, or at least a ‘.github’ one.

Anyway, you can add .files and .directories to your vault. Obsidian won’t recognized them, but they will work with your other apps.
