Allow / enable 3rd party access to Obsidian Sync

Use case or problem

Over time and over multiple systems using macOS, Windows and Linux, a multitude of problematic situations have arised. It takes time to learn, and also through time, Obsidian's capabilities have evolved a lot.

For me this has lead to a growing number of polluted folders with .md files.
There is no arguing that this is only my own fault, but I am seeking for capable solutions through the use of 3rd party tools such as Filezilla Pro, Forklift, Transmit and others.

Proposed solution

Allow the access through aforementioned tools , or, provide a tool yourself that can be used to:

  • download the complete content of a users Sync “storage”
  • this way the user can do his “housekeeping” of .md notes
  • use the same tool to upload a “clean” version of his .md notes
  • in a best case scenario: if Obsidian would provide its own tool, allow/provide this tool to also make local network backups
