Allow batch selecting links in unlinked mentions *before* updating the note

Use case or problem

This bug has been occurring for years, now:

Linking an unlinked mention has destructive behavior (introduces spurious text as alias)

Steps to reproduce Backlink to the active page by clicking “Link” in the Backlinks-Sidepanel On some occasions it happens, sometimes it doesn’t Expected result It should just simply link the page name like normal Actual result Sometimes it moves the linking-portion a couple characters infront, creating a garbled character-mess In this example, I am in the page called “CRP”, but when clicking on “Link” in the sidebar it didn’t place the backlink on the characters “CRP” in the other page, but…

The only way that works consistently to avoid it is to start linking unlinked mentions from the bottom and work your way to the top. I’m assuming it’s because when it edits the bottommost one, the higher up ones don’t change what character number they are.

Proposed solution

I would like to be able to first select which unlinked mentions I want linked and then have it pushed to the file when I’m done.

Current workaround

I saw the plugin Link Unlinked Mentions and thought it was neat that it could link multiple links like that, but it doesn’t do exactly what I want since I want to pick and choose and it also ignores if multiple files have the same alias.
