All Vaults Disappeared

What I’m trying to do

Get my vaults which have disappeared back.

Things I have tried

Obsidian completely froze when attempting to do a search. This has happened before and I did what worked before: I rebooted my computer, but all my vaults were gone when I reopened Obsidian. (I also cannot log into Obsidian Sync.) I clicked on Manage Vaults, but nothing is found when I select “Open folder as vault”. I have searched everywhere on my computer. There are headings for the folders in the different vaults, but nothing is in them. I do not save anything to OneDrive or Google Drive. Everything is local on my computer. I am not super savvy with using all the bells and whistles of Obsidian but have been using it for over a year and have A LOT of notes which I really need to get back. I am a little frantic right now. I did all the troubleshooting/debugging steps above, but most are either not applicable or did not help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

According to your description, it seems that you cannot find the notes folder in your computer, right?

  1. Is your hard drive almost full? (That’s my only first guess for what happened if your files were local.)
  2. Where were your vaults stored? Can you remember the path?
  3. How many vaults did you have? And they are all gone at once?
  4. What do you mean you can’t log in to Obsidian Sync? What does it say when you try?

So you are using Obsidian Sync? (To confirm, Obsidian Sync is a paid service, so for it to work, you would have had to have a Sync subscription. Was that the case?)

If yes, did your vaults sync to any other devices where you can potentially make a backup? (I hope you can find your files. But please make sure to keep backups in the future. Syncing tools are not the same thing as good safe backups.)
