Add multiple photos videos when adding attachments on mobile

Use case or problem

While in the middle of writing on iOS, I want to add multiple images but I can only select one when I tap to add an attachment.

Proposed solution

Allow multiple images to be select from the photos gallery.

Current workaround (optional)

I could select multiple photos in the iOS Photos app and share them to Obsidian but that requires more steps.

+1 for this request, it’s been bugging me for ages and I finally thought I’d post it as a feature request, happy to see you beat me to it!

I often want to upload multiple photos, and it’s cumbersome for two reasons:

  1. I have to keep selectin the attachment button and selecting a new photo from the iOS camera roll, then repeat…
  2. Because of the hybrid source/preview mode, when adding one picture, it is difficult (it takes time) to scroll below the image you uploaded and tap to re-activate the cursor so you can upload a new photo. This exacerbates the issue because the time between uploading each photo is even longer.

Can you describe your workflow for sharing from the photos app? I can’t seem to even figure out the workaround. Also +1 to your request the current limitation is QUITE annoying!

After digging some more i found a work around. On Iphone:

Create A note on your iphone note app

add all the pictures there

move the note but as markdown file not as normal text (there is a option when sharing called markup click on that) and move to the obsidian vault in your files it should be located in the On My Phone Folder . Just simply add it to the vault. Now here is a problem it shows up in obsidian as a pdf atlest for iphone you need to convert the pdf to markdown with this plugin called Marker PDF To MD by L3NOX . It lets you convert it amd after you convert it you have markdown note with all the pictures. Using that lets you add multiple pictures not having to add them one by one to the note. And if you want to add them to the canbas you simply drop the note in the canvas and you can drag and drop them out of the note onto the canvas. Really easy. This also can be automated and i hope some developer combines the process and makes it into a plugin!

Hopefully, the official Obsidian team will be able to support this feature straight away (I used Day One a lot before moving to Obsidian :D).

Use case or problem

I’m using Obsidian journal every day. I also add media from my iPhone to most of the journal entries. Therefore, I often need to add multiple images and videos to a journal entry which is really annoying because I have to insert each file one by one. I always have to click on the attachments button in the task bar, open the gallery, add one single attachment and repeat this process as many times as I want to have attachments in my file.

Proposed solution

It would be a lot easier to open the gallery once and select all desired images and videos before attaching them to the file (like common in other apps).

Current workaround (optional)

I’m just adding all the attachments separately which takes a ton of time.

*I’m using Obsidian to journal every day.

The Media Viewer plugin can do this

That’s right, thank’s for showing me this plugin. However, I still need the native functionality because I don’t want to rely on third party plugins that might not be supported in a few years.

Does this work on iOS as well?

Sure, the original issue was referring to the iOS case.

Perhaps I should’ve written a little more the first time round…

I ask as I’ve installed it on iOS Obsidian app, but when I click on the :paperclip:to add photos from my Photo Library on my phone, the interface is the same, only allowing you to add one photo at a time. I did look in the settings to see if I’m missing something but not obvious to me.

You must first create a Gallery Block
