It’s definitely good to link related requests!
I’m unable to drag tabs on a Tab S9 Ultra display size is 2,960 by 1,848 pixels.
It’s running 1.15.12 version of Obsidian with Android 14
Sadly, you can’t currently rearrange tabs in the mobile app. That’s why this feature request exists.
They were responding to my asking if that was still the case (and for device details if so), since I found I was able to drag tabs on my old Android tablet.
Thanks, @Ant !
Thanks for clarifying. Sadly, it’s still broken for phones.
Hey, I can’t rearrange them on my Tablet, either.
- Device: OnePlus Pad,
- Screen Resolution: 2800x2000 ,
- OS: OxygenOS 14.0 / Android 14,
- Obsidian Version: 1.6.7.
- Tabs look like on desktop, so it’s a row on top of the screen, not a collapsible on the bottom
Me too, I am unable to drag tabs on a Tab S9 Ultra. Display size: 2960x1848
Obsidian 1.6.7, Android 14
Split could be useful also on phones … Some screens are large enough that you could tolerably use more than one pane at once, esp. with smaller font sizes, etc. Separate topic though, haha, sorry.
Oh, does that work? Def a bit of a pain, but could be better than nothing, as a workaround … Will try that. Thanks for sharing … ![]()
Agree that this would be very helpful. Being able to better organize my tabs makes it easier to organize my thoughts.
+1 for this feature!
It would make the mobile app experience very very more enjoyable.

I’d like the order of tabs to be consistent across desktop & mobile.
Yeah, currently you can re-organize tabs on desktop and tablet, but not in mobile’s tab switcher… You can if you use Vertical Tabs, interestingly.
Adding my name to this list of people who agree that this would be an excellent feature.
Use case or problem
Currently, there’s no way to drag and drop or otherwise rearrange open tabs. To achieve a desired tab order, I have to close all tabs and manually reopen them in sequence, which is inefficient and disruptive to my workflow. Adding the ability to reorder tabs would significantly improve organization and usability.

I forgot to mention, this is for the Android app.
Since Obsidian uses a cross-platform framework (Capacitor), the solution should work on both Android and iOS if this FR gets implemented
Two years and counting. Is there some reason this can not be implemented?
