About Special/Invalid characters

Continuing the discussion started on Feb 19, 2021 Allowing special characters in note name breaks link functionality:

Does anybody know where exactly is this warning?

2026-05-18 update: an unidentified community plugin is probably hiding/modifying the mentioned warning as I can’t reproduce unless using restricted mode. Thanks @ariehen for your answer/images in About Special/Invalid characters - #2 by ariehen

I do get a warning when trying to create an invalid filename

Long term the real resolution is to really manage these cases with escape sequences.

Not sure if/when it will happen.
Something like: filename note#name will become [[note\#name]]

For the time being, it’s going to be allow+warn.

Is there a plugin available or an open post to track that “idea”?

Any ideas to solve this on mobile?
