A word counter that shows how many words there are in a selection of text, not just the whole note please!

The word counters in obsidian are awesome, in my opinion, showing words and characters, v simple.

but when I select a bunch of text in a document, it would be great if that word counters could then update and show me how many are in that selected piece of text (perhaps in brackets, next to the total word count for the document)

Hopefully that would be of some use to other people too, thanks!

File Info Panel plugin (many features) has this. So does the Better Word Count plugin (simpler).

Aha! Thanks Dor, much obliged

How a word counter might be implemented (show different contents in the “counter area”, depending on what is / is not selected):

i think this would be useful. yes, the better-word-count plugin has this, but it’s such a good & simple feature it could be implemented as a toggle in the native/core word count plugin
