0.8.14 Insider: Still see full file path for auto-complete links

Not sure if this is a bug or a misunderstanding on my part. All changes for the 0.8.14 insider build seem to work fine for me except the change to links.

From the 0.8.14 announcement

Auto-complete markdown links now generates the note’s name in the display text instead of the full path.

Steps to reproduce

Here’s what I see when I start with an internal link.

Expected result

If I’m understanding the new change correctly I would expect to see “note-file-name” in the list instead of “folder/sub-folder/note-file-name.” Is that the right expectation here?

Additional information

I have my settings in Obsidian as:

  • link format: relative path to file
  • use markdown links: on

I tried turning off “use markdown links” and using “shortest path possible” in settings, then restarting Obsidian, but I was still seeing the same drop-down choices when creating a new link.

I am not sure if there are several misunderstandings here at play.

Let me clarify:

[[ ]] is a wiki link
()[] is standard markdown link

The autolink link popup shows the path and filename but what is generated after you select an item depends on:

  1. Wheter you use wikilinks or standard markdown link
  2. What are you path preferences

I think the wording in the annoucement is corrent in using generates and not shows.

Yeah… I kept thinking I was missing something here. I guess what confused me is that I was picturing the wiki link when reading the updates.
